Top-6 CAA Battle -- Maine and Elon are set to square off in a top-6 battle within the CAA standings as after a slow start to the year, the Black Bears find themselves in fifth place in the standings as they ride a three-game winning streak into homecoming, trailed by Elon who is coming off of back-to-back losses for the first this season and sits in sixth in the standings.

Last Time Out -- The Black Bears made it three-straight victories as they took down Merrimack on the road on Saturday, Oct. 11, 20-13. It's the longest winning streak of the Coach Stevens Era and propelled the Black Bears into the top-half of the CAA standings.

After injuries to Nick Laughlin and Sincere Baines, Rashawn Marshall emerged as the biggest story of the game as he took his 22 total touches and turned them into 168 yards, 146 on the ground and 22 receiving. Scott Woods maintained his momentum atop the Black Bear receiving charts as he had four catches for 75 yards, his third-straight game with at least 75 yards.

The Black Bears defense forced a season-high 3 takeaways against Merrimack. Devin Vaught recorded his second interception of the season while Vincent Nwachi recorded his first interception and recovered a fumble forced by Kye Pressley.

PEEVY ENTERING THE ZONE

Carter Peevy is in a stretch of playing his best football over his past three performances he has thrown for 799 yards and five touchdowns over the past three games.

He had a pair of passing touchdowns and added a third score on the ground against N.C. A&T before adding another three passing touchdowns at Bryant, where he threw for a career-best at Maine 338 yards. He added another rushing score at Merrimack, the game-winning touchdown.

Peevy was named to Co-Offensive Player of the Week in the CAA after the N.C. A&T matchup, the only weekly honor for the Black Bears on the season.

BAINES BOUNCING BACK

Sincere Baines is looking to bounce back after a minor injury forced him out against Merrimack after just two carries.

He heads into week nine as the fifth-leading rusher in all of the CAA with 501 yards.

He leads the CAA in yards per carry as he is averaging 6.51 yards per attempt. That mark is the 15th-highest mark in the FCS.

THOMAS CONTINUES HIS IMPACT

Christian Thomas looks to remain near the top of the CAA as following the bye week, he still remains in second place with 67 tackles, the 15th most in the NCAA.

He leads the Black Bears in tackles for loss (7), is second in sacks (2) and leads the team in solo tackles with 33.

Against N.C. A&T in the last home game for the Black Bears, he recorded 11 tackles, six being solo, along with a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.

TOP OF THE DEPTH CHART

Scott Woods and Mo Irefin are the clear #1 and #2 wide receivers on the Black Bears and have both eclipsed 150 yards receiving during the three-game win streak for the Black Bears.

Woods leads Maine with 34 catches and 392 yards, trailed by Irefin's 23 receptions for 277 yards.

During the win streak, Woods has 17 catches for 273 yards and two touchdowns while Irefin has 13 catches for 163 yards.

O-LINE PRESENCE

The Black Bears offensive line is in position to roll out the same crew for the fifth-straight contest, those being: Kocan (LT), Iliano (RT), Cruji (C), Boutaugh (RG) and Stanley (LG).

This group is coming of a clean sheet as they didn't allow a sack to Merrimack on Oct. 11.

For the season, the offensive line as a whole has only allowed 13 sacks in seven games.

SAFETIES FORCING TAKEAWAYS

The safety group of Devin Vaught, Jake Kucera and Malcolm Folk have been leading the charge over the past four games for the Black Bears as they have forced four takeaways over those games.

Vaught and Folk both forced takeaways as Georgia Southern, highlighted by a pick-6 from Vaught.

Kucera secured his first interception of his career two weeks later at Bryant before Vaught added a second interception to his season against Merrimack last time out.

PRESEASON HONORS

The Black Bears had five members listed on the All-CAA Preseason list.

Trevin Ewing was named to the All-CAA Preseason Team as a kick returner while Carter Peevy,        Jamaree Gibson, Devin Vaught and Christian Thomas all were named to the Honorable Mentions list.
