Preview: Field Hockey to host UMass Lowell in Final Regular Season Home Contest

Black Bears on the road Sunday at Holy Cross

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine Field Hockey team will carry its two game win streak into Friday's final regular season home game when it hosts UMass Lowell in America East conference action on Student Appreciation Day, presented by Orono House of Pizza, at 3 p.m. The Black Bears travel to meet Holy Cross at noon on Sunday.

All students in attendance on Friday will be eligible to win one of three $50 gift cards to Orono House of Pizza.

ABOUT MAINE:
  • The Black Bears are coming off a weekend sweep, defeating Bryant 6-1 on Friday and Boston University 5-0 on Saturday. Maine moved to 5-9 on the season and 1-2 in America East Conference Play.
  • Nicole Kowalewski, who has goals in each of Maine's last three outings, was named the America East Rookie of the Week after scoring two goals over the weekend.
  • Maine is 14-2 all time against the River Hawks looking to snap a two game losing streak
  • Maine outshot its opponents last weekend by a 31-4 margin.
  • Zoe Furber leads the team in goals with seven after a two goal weekend against Bryant and Boston University.
  • Rozárie Mrázová, who posted her first shutout of the season in a win over Boston University, enters action with three wins to go along with a .765 save percentage and a 1.86 goals against avearge and 64 saves.
ABOUT UMASS LOWELL:
  • UMass Lowell enters this contest 7-7 on the season after falling to New Hampshire by a score of 7-0 on Friday and falling to #4 Harvard 5-1 on Sunday.
  • Karlijn Kerkhof leads the River Hawks' attack scoring a team high 12 goals and 30 points on the season. Kerkhof is second in the America East in goals,and points while being first in the conference in game winning goals with three, shots with 64, and shots on goal with 39.
  • In the cage, Veerle Mous has started every game for UMass Lowell this season. Mous enters this contest 6-7-0 with one shutout. Mous has a 3.00 goals against average and a 69% save percentage on the season.
ABOUT HOLY CROSS:
  • Holy Cross, who hosts Colgate Friday, currently features a 5-8 mark with four of the five wins coming at home.
  • The Crusaders are 0-2 against the America East this season, with losses to UAlbany and Bryant.
  • Maguire Sturgis leads Holy Cross in scoring with team-highs in goals (8), assists (5), and points (21). Kendall Bryant features six goals.
  • Mia McCloskey has made 13 starts in the cage while posting a 5-7 mark with a .746 save percentage and a 2.58 goals against average.
