Fairfield, CT - The University of Maine field hockey program was defeated at Fairfield on Sunday afternoon, 2-1.

Fairfield scored the first two goals of the afternoon, one in 22' minute and the other in the 47' minute.

Goal Three: Maine broke through in the 48' minute as Olivia Geniti scored her team-high sixth goal of the season on a deflected ball sent her way from Poppy Lambert (4) on the penalty corner.

Notes on the Game: 

• Shots were in favor of the Black Bears, 12-9. Maine outshot Fairfield 9-2 in the second half.
• Maine generated 10 corners to Fairfields four.
• Rozárie Mrázová had five saves in net for the Black Bears.

Next up: Maine will host UC Davis on Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Maine Field Hockey Complex. That game is scheduled to begin at Noon and it will be Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day.
