Merrimack, Maine Play to Scoreless Tie

With the non-conference deadlock, Maine pushes its season-opening unbeaten streak to four games.

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team and Merrimack played to a 0-0 tie on Thursday night in the 2024 home opener for the Black Bears at Mahaney Diamond.

Maine out-shot the Warriors by a slim 7-3 margin in the opening 45 minutes and then outshot the visitors 18-3 in the second half. The Black Bears forced goalkeeper Lily Morgan to make 13 saves. On the defensive end, Jessica Kasacek kept the game scoreless with five saves of her own.

  • Maine had the 25-6 lead in shots and a 13-5 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Black Bears had a 7-2 lead in corner kicks.
  • Goalkeeper Jessica Kasacek finished with a career-high five saves.
