ORONO, Maine -- Black Bear Nation! We look forward to seeing you all at Alfond Stadium for the home opener on Friday, Aug. 30 when the Black Bears square off against Colgate at 7 p.m. Below you'll find some helpful information to make your experience on campus positive, smooth, and fun!
PROMOTIONS:
- Join the Black Bears for a 'Friday Night Lights' edition of a Blue Out at Alfond Stadium! All fans are encouraged to wear blue to the home opener as the Black Bears host Colgate on move-in day at UMaine
- Annual 'Running of the Bears' as the class of 2028 will officially be introduced as they sprint across the field just prior to kickoff
- Fans will receive the official Maine Football schedule poster and schedule magnets while supplies last
- All UMaine students who attend Friday's game will receive thundersticks, courtesy of the Law Offices of Joe Bornstein
- The 2023-24 America East Champion women's basketball team will be recognized during the game and available pregame for an autograph session from 6-6:45 p.m.in the Hannaford Kids Zone
- Postgame fireworks show, presented by Phantom Fireworks
PARKING:
SEASON MEMBER ENTRANCE:
Fans with season memberships will have a devoted entrance to the Freshies' Lot B, as we ask our season members to enter at "Gate 1", as seen on the Tailgating Map above. Season members must show their Freshies Lot tailgate pass to enter the lot. Spaces in this lot are not guaranteed and will be issued on a first come, first serve basis.
SINGLE GAME/GROUP TICKET TAILGATE ENTRANCE:
Those who purchased single game or group tickets and wish to tailgate are asked to enter the campus using "Gate 2", taking Long Road to "Lot C", "Lot D" or "Lot E".
GENERAL PARKING:
Fans without a parking pass, and non-tailgaters, have a number of free parking options around campus including the Steam Plant Lot (located off College Ave.), the New Balance Student Recreation Center lot, and the Collins Center Lot.
*Please be advised that construction is underway on Stillwater Avenue in Old Town. Travel delays may occur. Out-of-town visitors traveling on I-95 are encouraged to take exit 191 and access College Avenue via Main Street in Orono. (8/16/2024)

TICKETS:
Single game, group, and season tickets can be purchased by visiting the Alfond Arena box office (Monday-Friday), by calling 207.581.BEAR, or online at GoBlackBears.com/tickets.Â
On gameday, all ticket operations will be run out of the Alfond Stadium box office located at the base of the stadium grandstand along Tunk Road.
Students with a valid MaineCard may receive one free ticket to each game. Students may pick up their tickets on gameday at the student entrance to Alfond Stadium, located on the southeast side of the stadium near Mahaney Diamond.
Gates to Alfond Stadium will open 60 minutes prior to the scheduled kickoff time.
TAILGATING:
TAILGATING FEE:
There will be a $20 fee for those who wish to take advantage of our tailgate this season in Lot C, Lot D, and Lot E. The charge is waived for our Season Members as an added benefit. Lot A will also be a paid parking lot ($10), but no alcohol will be permitted in Lot A.
TAILGATING TIMING AND NO RENTRY:
Tailgate lots will open four hours prior to kickoff and close at kickoff. In conjunction fans will not be able to reenter the game, once they leave the stadium.
- Freshies Season Member Lot B. All season members will have the right to an EXCLUSIVE tailgate lot. Those who purchase a season membership will receive a special tailgate parking pass to gain entrance to the lot, free of charge!
- All tailgating in Lot C, Lot D and Lot E will require a payment of $20 per car. All tailgate passes will be sold on the day of the game only - no advance purchase.
Hours/Access:Â
- Lots open four hours prior to game time.
- All lots will close at kickoff. At that time, the lots become public areas and consumption of alcohol in the area is no longer permitted.
- Parking spaces are on a first-come, first-served basis. Tailgaters may line up on College Avenue prior to lots opening three hours before kickoff. Access to Freshies' Lot B, Lot A, skybox, media, handicap, or additional preferred parking will require use of Branch Road.
Guidelines:
- The legal consumption of alcohol is permitted in the Freshies Lot (B), Lot C, Lot D and Lot E.
In order to enter either tailgate lot one must:
     1) Present a Season Member Pass to enter the Freshies Lot B
     2) Lot A will be $10 parking, no tailgating.
     3) Pay a fee of $20 per car to enter Lot C, Lot D and Lot E.

- Lots open four hours prior to kickoff. Season Member Tailgate passes are good for 1 parking space.
- No bottles, kegs, or beer balls.
- Consumption of alcohol by those 21 years or older only. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Open containers of alcohol may not be taken out of tailgate areas and alcohol is not permitted in the stadium.
- Please secure alcohol into coolers or vehicles when exiting the tailgate area for the game.
- You may be asked to show proof of minimum drinking age. Please understand the importance of adhering to state law at the state university.
- Binge drinking or activities such as drinking games that encourage excessive consumption of alcohol will not be tolerated.
- Athletic Department personnel and public safety officials are available to assist you. For questions, please contact the Athletic Ticket Office at 581-2327.
- Portable toilets are available in all tailgate areas. The gates to the game open 60 minutes before kickoff and the ticket office opens four hours prior to kickoff on gameday. Fans may utilize the facilities in the stadium once the gates are open.
- These guidelines are subject to change.
CONCESSIONS:
Beer Garden/Concessions
- Concessions are located at the main entrance and under the grandstand. Outside food and drink is prohibited. Beverages and pre-packaged snacks are also available for purchase on the concourse level of the grandstands.
- The Beer Garden will be open 90 minutes prior to kickoff and will be located along the north end zone at Alfond Stadium. Fans 21+ will be required to show ID for entrance to the beer garden. The beer garden will stop service at the start of the third quarter.
