Black Bears Selected Fourth in America East Preseason Poll

Lambert Named to Preseason All-Conference Team

Orono, ME - The America East Conference announced on Wednesday afternoon that the University of Maine field hockey program was selected fourth in the Preseason Poll. It was also announced the Poppy Lambert was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team.

Lambert, a fifth-year back out of Greytown, New Zealand, enters her final season as a Black Bear seven goals shy of the programs all-time goal scoring record (57 - Kelly Newton). She is a four-time All-Conference selection, a 2022 All-American, the 2022 America East Defensive Player of the Year and a two-time NFHCA All-Region Team Member.

In the preseason poll, the Black Bears were selected fourth with 23 points, including one first place vote. UAlbany leads the poll with 34 points and four first place votes, followed by UMass Lowell with 29 points and two first place votes. UNH ranks third with 24 points, followed by Maine (23 (1)), Vermont (20), Bryant (11) and UC Davis (6).

The Black Bears begin the regular season on Friday, Aug. 30 against Northwestern.
