LINCOLN, Neb. – The University of Maine softball team closed out its spring break trip on Tuesday afternoon with games against the University of Northern Colorado and Nebraska, falling in both non-conference contests at Bowling Stadium.

How it Happened
- Northern Colorado jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning and extended that lead to 6-0 by the bottom of the third.
- Kenedee Giddens and Katie Jo Moery hit back-to-back singles in the top of the fourth but got left on base.
- The Bears pushed two more run across in the bottom of the fifth for the 8-0 final.

How it Happened
- After Moery and Francia reached base in the top of the first but got stranded, the Huskers scored eight runs in the bottom half of the frame.
- Gabby Papushka led off the second with a single but couldn't move past second base.
- Maine kept Nebraska off the board in the second and third innings.
- In the top of the fourth, Francia and Papushka both collected their second hits of the day but were stranded on second and first, respectively.
- The Cornhuskers plated two in the bottom of the fourth and then Rylee Kent's single in the fifth wasn't enough for Maine to cut the deficit. Â
Game Notes
- Gabby Papushka went 2-for-2 for her first multi-hit game of the season.
- Krista Francia recorded her third multi-hit game of the season with her 2-for-2 game.
- Alysen Rieth started, going 0.2 innings while allowing seven runs on two hits and walking five … in 3.1 innings of relief, Ava Zettlemoyer allowed three runs – on earned – on three hits with three walks.
