FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The University of Maine softball team closed out the Colorado State Ram Invitational on Monday morning, falling to Idaho State, 9-5, in the final game of the tournament.

Kenedee Giddens led Maine with two doubles on the day while the Black Bears tied a season-high with eight hits.

How it Happened
- Idaho State opened the game with a home run and then jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
- Maine started to chip away in the bottom half of the first … after Kyli Hernandez walked, Kenedee Giddens sent her first career double to left … Anna Margetis then singled them both home.
- The Black Bears added another run in the second as Hernandez singled home Maggie Helms.
- The Tigers added one run each in the fourth and fifth and Maine responded with two in the fifth … Helms doubled to left and then scored on Giddens' second double of the day … Giddens then scored on a Katie Jo Moery single.
- Idaho State added one more run in the sixth and Maine couldn't complete the comeback.
Game Notes
- Kenedee Giddens recorded the first and second doubles of her career … she went 2-for-4 on the day with one RBI and two runs scored.
- Maggie Helms was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
- Kyli Hernandez, Moery, Margetis, Rylee Kent and Kennedy Priest all went 1-for-3.
- Maine tied a season-high with eight hits.
- Kaly Thomas started, lasting 0.1 innings while allowing six runs on six hits … Caitlyn Fallon went 6.2 innings in relief, giving up three runs – two earned – on six hits while striking out three and walking one.
