Maine holds #15 UConn in regulation, falls in OT

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team battled hard to push the #15 UConn Huskies into the overtime period, but fell 4-3 on Saturday at Alfond Arena.

Senior forward Adriana van de Leest led the Black Bears with a goal and two assists. Kendall Sundby had two assists on the night, while goaltender Kiia Lahtinen backstopped Maine with 30 saves.

After a scoreless first period, Maine rallied behind two powerplay goals in the second period to take the lead. Adriana van de Leest scored first, with Kendall Sundby and Brenna Curl earning assists. A few minutes later, Frederikke Foss notched her first career goal assisted by Adriana van de Leest and Kendall Sundby. The Huskies were able to tie up the game before the period ended, one goal coming from a power play opportunity.
