Maine closes out fall semester with a win over Merrimack

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team took down Merrimack College, 3-2, on Saturday at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland to close out the first half of their season.

Linemates Adriana van de Leest, Alyssa Wruble and Lily Fetch each had two points apiece, as the line scored two of Maine's goals, including the game-winning goal with less than a minute left in the game.

Two minutes into the game, Adriana van de Leest put Maine on the board on a play from Alyssa Wruble and Lily Fetch. Maine held the lead during a scoreless second frame.

Twenty-one seconds into the third period, Stephanie Jacob found the back of the net to give Maine a two-goal lead, with Sam Morrison picking up the assist. The Warriors responded 20 seconds later with a goal and then later tied it up with under a minute to play.

Alyssa Wruble's game-winner came with 31 seconds left in the game, for her fifth of the season.

Freshman goaltender Madisyn Ryan saw her first start in goal, making 22 saves in her first career win.
