Preview: Track and Field opens its indoor season this weekend

Orono, ME - The University of Maine Track and Field teams will travel to Boston to compete in the Boston University Sharon Colyear and New Balance Invite on Saturday. Running events begin at 10:!5 a.m. while the field portion of the competition gets underway at 11 a.m.

The meet will be held at the Boston Univeristy Track and Tennis Center. Tickets can be purchased at https://tinyurl.com/ysspyl9h in advanced or for $12 at the door with either cash or card.

Live results for this event can be found using www.lancertiming.com and the event will also be live streamed at www.flotrack.org.

Men's Athletes to Watch:

Andrew Card - The sophomore last season took home second place in the 400M during the UMaine Meet Dec 8 and 9, with a time of 49.96. Card also took home second place in the 4x400 event last season in the UMass Amherst Flagship Indoor Invitational on Jan 14, with a time of 3:18.09.
Connor Michaud - The senior last season took home first place in the finals of the America East Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb 19-20, during the 400M event with a time of 47.71. Michaud also took home first place in the 4x200 event during the Suffolk Relays on Dec 2 with a time of 1:28.19.
Cole Martin - The junior took home first place in the UMaine Meet last season in the 60M with a final time of 6.85. Martin also took home first place in the 4x200 event during the Suffolk Relays with a time of 1:28.19.
Eamon Sweeney - The senior comes into the indoor season after only competing in the outdoor portion of the the track season last year. In the 110H event in last season's America East Outdoor Championships, and finished with a time of 14.77 which was good for second place. Sweeney took home first place in the same event during the 2024 UNH Jim Boulanger Invitational with a time of 15.19.
Luke Marsanskis - The senior took home first place during the 3000M event in the America East Indoor Championships last season with a time of 8:21.55. Marsanskis also took home first place in the 5000M in IC4A/ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Kaleb Colson - The freshman comes into UMaine after being named the Class B 800 meter and Class B 1 Mile State Championships with Sumner High School.

Women's Athletes to Watch:

Kelcie Horst - The senior took home first place in the 200M event in the UMaine Meet last season with a time of 26.91. Also in the UMaine Meet, Horst took home second place in the 60M event with a time of 8.21.
Erika Lawson - The senior took home second place in the 55H event during the UNH vs Maine event on Jan 21. Lawson took home 4th place in the Triple Jump with a distance of 11.45m which is equivalent to 37' 6.75".
Catherine Primavera - The freshman joins the Black Bears to compete in her first collegiate indoor event. She was a 58.4 second 400m runner in high school and should look to impress in her debut.
Rebekah Hunnewell - The senior finished third in the shot put event during the UNH vs Maine event with a distance of 12.05m which is equivalent to 39' 6.5". Hunnewell also finished fifth during thr Gordon Kelly Invitational last year in shot put, with a distance of 11.65m or 38' 2.75".
