Tynes Dishes out Career-High 13 Assists to Lead Black Bears to 69-56 Victory over Elon

Gribben has career-high 13 points off the bench

Philadelphia, PA - The University of Maine started off the Cathedral Classic presented by Toyota with a 69-56 victory over Elon.

After falling behind at 12-2 just over six minutes into the contest, Maine went on an 11-0 run to grab their first lead of the afternoon at 13-12.

After a back-and-forth battle through the middle stages of the first half, Maine concluded the half on a 14-4 run to lead the contest at 29-23.

Kellen Tynes stuffed the stat sheet in the first half as he had 7 points, 5 assists and 4 steals.

Killian Gribben had 6 points and 5 rebounds off the bench and Christopher Mantis chipped in 5 points off the bench.

The Black Bears held their lead until 8:14 left in the contest when Elon converted on a four-point play to take a 41-38 lead.

Maine regained the lead just a minute and a half later on a pair of free throws from Tynes.

Maine increased their lead to double-digits as they buried three-straight three-point attempts to make it 55-44 with just under four minutes remaining.

The Black Bears picked up their fourth win of the season as they took down Elon, 69-56.

Tynes finished with his first double-double of the season as he had 14 points and a career-high 13 assists. He also finished one steal shy of tying his career-high with 7 steals in the contest.

Quion Burns finished with 16 points and Gribben finished with a career-high 13 points and a season-high 8 rebounds off the bench.

Maine (4-3) takes on Penn on the second day of the Cathedral Classic on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 4:30 PM.
