Box Score ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team was defeated by the University of Vermont Catamounts on Saturday by a score of 2 to 1 at Alfond Arena. The Black Bears' loss earns them a series split with the Catamounts, as the two teams remain tied in the Hockey East standings.
Mikayla Boarder kicked off the first period by scoring a goal just 24 seconds into the game. Linemates

Sam Morrison picked up the assists.Â
Shortly after, Maine was called for a five-minute major penalty, which led to Vermont tying the game on their power play opportunity. It wasn't until about halfway through the second period that Vermont would tally the game-winning goal.
After a scoreless third period, the Catamounts earned the win for three conference points.Â

Kiia Lahtinen started in her sixth straight game, making 24 saves for Maine.
Shots on goal were 26 to 17 in favor of Vermont.Â
