ORONO, Maine - University of Maine women's basketball head coach Amy Vachon has been named to the Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid Major Coach of the Year Preseason Watch List, as announced on Wednesday.

Vachon was named one of only 20 coaches named to the watch list. Vachon begins her eighth season at the helm of the University of Maine Women's Basketball program. She has been named Coach of the Year five times including last season when she led the Black Bears to a 24-10 season and captured the America East Championship to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The Black Bears open up their season against La Salle at Memorial Gymnasium on Nov 4. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 a.m.
