ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball team checked in 16th in the 2024-25 Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls, as announced by the WBCA on Tuesday, July 22. The Black Bears finished 16th among NCAA Division I members with a 3.691 cumulative team grade point average.
The Top-25 ranking marks the eighth time in the past 11 seasons in which the Black Bears have earned a spot on the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. In four of the past five seasons, the Black Bears have ranked in the top five. Maine led the nation in the 2020-21 WBCA Academic Top 25 with a 3.90 cumulative team grade point average.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2024-25 season is the 30th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
