Women's Basketball announces addition of Kaliyah Sain

ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine women's basketball head coach Amy Vachon has announced the addition of Kaliyah Sain. Sain, a 6-0 forward who spent the previous two seasons at Kirkwood Community College and Lindenwood University, will join the Black Bears in the fall of 2025 with two years of eligibility remaining

We are thrilled to announce Kaliyah Sain as the newest member of our Black Bear family," said Vachon. "Kaliyah is a tremendous young woman who will be a perfect compliment to our team. She is a tall, versatile guard who can defend multiple positions and also score from all three levels. A true student-athlete, we couldn't have found a better person or player to add to our program."

Sain spent the 2024-25 season at Kirkwood Community College after competing during her freshman campaign at Lindenwood University in 2023-24.

At Kirkwood, Sain started all 35 games while averaging 13.5 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while shooting 46.8 percent from the floor and 31.3 from three-point range. Her impressive season earned her NJCAA First Team All-American and NJCAA First Team All-Conference honors.

As a freshman, she appeared in 21 games at Lindenwood.

Prior to her collegiate career, Sain starred at both John F. Kennedy high school and for Team Iowa on the club scene. At Kennedy, Sain averaged 21 points per game and eight rebounds and was named All-Metro First Team three times, MVC Valley First Team three times, and was a two-time All-State Second Team selection. She also earned All-Academic honors and, at the time of her graduation, held the school record for more three-pointers made in a single game. For Team Iowa, Sain posted averages of 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
