Bangor, ME – The University of Maine men's basketball team lost a close one at the Cross Insurance Center against Binghamton, 51-50.

After jumping out to a 2-0 lead, Maine struggled to find any rhythm on the offensive end of the floor as they scored a season low 19 points in the first half and trailed at the break, 28-19.

Jaden Clayton had seven points while
Quion Burns had six points in the first half.
Adam Cisse had four blocks in the half.

The Black Bears came out in the second half looking like a totally new team as they immediately went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit down to three points within the first three minutes of the second half.

Maine continued to slowly climb their way back into the contest, eventually taking their first lead since the 2-0 score at 43-42 following a layup by Clayton.

Both sides traded the lead back-and-forth down the stretch, with the Bearcats hitting the game-sealing shot with four seconds remaining to grab the victory, 51-50.

Clayton finished with a game-high 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting.

Burns finished with a season-high 13 points while Cisse concluded the game with four points and five blocks.

Maine (10-11, 2-4 AE) head on the road for their next matchup as they will take on UMass Lowell on Thursday, Feb. 1. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 P.M.
