STORRS, Connecticut - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell to the #11 UConn Huskies Friday at Toscano Family Ice Forum by a score of 3 to 1.
Freshman forward
Raegan Wurm scored Maine's lone goal against UConn goaltender Tia Chan on a back door pass from
Ida Kuoppala in the first period. Linemate
Ann-Frederique Guay also earned an assist.
The Huskies struck twice in the first period before Maine was able to get on the board. UConn's early 2-1 lead carried over to the final period, after a scoreless second period.
Just about five minutes into the third period, the Huskies scored a third even strength goal. With three and a half minutes to play, Maine pulled their goalie for an extra attacker but struggled to capitalize.
Senior goaltender
Jorden Mattison made 23 saves for the Black Bears. Maine had 21 shots on goal and went 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
