Orono, ME - The America East Conference announced on Monday afternoon that
Abby Kraemer and
Kira Kutzinski of the University of Maine women's soccer team were named the Conference's Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
Kraemer, a native of Waterloo, Ontario, has been nearly unstoppable over the past month for the Black Bears. Coming off of a one goal, one assist performance in the 3-0 victory over UAlbany on Sunday, Kraemer extended her goal-scoring streak to four-straight games and her point-streak to seven-straight games. She leads the America East in goals (9) and points (21).
Kutzinski, a native of Bünde, Germany, picked up her third shutout of the season in the victory over UAlbany. She racked up six saves in the winning performance as she helped lead Maine to its seventh win on the season and extended the longest undefeated streak to begin a season in program history to 10 games.
Maine (7-0-3, 2-0-0 AE) returns to Orono on Sunday, Oct. 1 as they host UMBC. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon.
