Orono, ME - The University of Maine field hockey team fell in overtime against Boston University on Friday afternoon, 3-2.
Payton Anderson and Alex Purcell scored in regulation for the Terriers in the 18th and 44th minute, respectively.
Mallory Mackesy kept her early season success going as she found the back of the net for the third-straight game to begin the 2023 season as Poppy Lambert (1) and Kristjana Walker (1) set up her up on the corner chance.
Saylor Kuefler tallied her first collegiate goal in the 42nd minute as she scored from a nearly impossible angle on the endline.
Amalia Preece tallied the overtime winner for Boston University in the 68th minute off of a feed by Thalia Steenssens.
Jayde Temby (0-1) took the loss in net for the Black Bears as she picked up a save during her time on the field.
Maine (1-2) remains in Orono to take on Ohio on Sunday, Sep. 3. The game is scheduled to begin at 12:00 P.M.
