ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine softball team will conclude the 2023 regular season this weekend against the Bryant University Bulldogs. First pitch in Orono is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Friday.

Under the watch of second year head coach
Jordan Fitzpatrick, The Black Bears will see 12 players return from the 2022 roster, while welcoming eight newcomers for the 2023 season. The new faces are made up of six freshmen and two transfers.

Kelby Drews earned America East Player of the Week honors after finishing the first week of the season with a .462 batting average, six hits, and two runs over the first week of the 2023 season. The graduate student now owns a .383 average with 23 hits, five doubles, one home run, and nine RBI after her first 24 games of the season. She has been walked or hit by a pitch 11 times. The senior recorded a walk-off single in the Black Bears' first game at the new softball complex.

Grace McGouldrick is the other Black Bear with a batting average north of the .300 mark (.333). The graduate student has logged a .414 on base percentage, 41 hits, 24 runs, 16 walks, and 30 stolen bases over her 123 at bats.

Jasmine Gray and
Katie Jo Moery are both just shy of the .300 mark. The two have combined to tally one home run, score 18 runs, record 46 hits, and drive in 18 runners.

Immy Gie, and
Nora Campo have supplied the power for the Black Bears. Three of the newest Black Bears have each launched a home run while combining to drive in 27 runners.

Caitlyn Fallon has earned six wins, one save, and fanned 61 over the short season. The senior has logged 92.2 innings while pitching three complete games over her 28 appearances.
Alysen Rieth has won five games over her first 13 starts. The freshman has 61 strikeouts and four complete games through her first 100 collegiate innings.
