Orono, ME - University of Maine senior track and field athletes Alec Troxell, Mackenzie Wilson, and Julia Feid have been named to the America East Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic team, as announced by the conference on Thursday afternoon.
Troxell, an Economics major with a Marketing minor earned a 3.89 gpa to help him earn recognition by the conference. On the track, Toxell had a strong season for the Black Bears including winning two bronze medals at the America East Outdoor Championships. The medals came in the 10000m (30:59.52) and the 5000m (14:47.53). He also set some University of Maine records this season in the same events. He currently holds the school record in the 5000m (14:08.32) and sits seventh in the 10000m (30:59.52).
Wilson, a part of the College of Education and Human Development with a Kinesiology and Physical Education Major and is also a part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a French Double Major. She also finished the semester with a 3.74 gpa and achieved this recognition from the conference. Wilson had an impressive season for Maine where she is an America East Outdoor Champion in the hammer throw with a mark of 60.09m. Earlier in the season, Wilson also set a new University of Maine record in the hammer with a throw reaching 61.59m. She also finished the season being ranked 22nd in the nation in the hammer and earned a bid to the NCAA Preliminary Round.
The last Black Bear to earn this recognition from the conference is Julia Feid, who is a member of the College of Education and Human Development as a Kinesiology and Physical Education Major with Teaching/Coaching - Health Concentration while finishing the season with a 3.77 gpa.This season Feid was an America East Outdoor Champion in the javelin (44.53m). She also moved up the Maine school record this season in the event currently placed second all-time (44.77).
