Orono, ME – The University of Maine baseball team sets a new program record by starting the America East season 8-0 following a victory over UAlbany on Saturday afternoon, 12-1.

First Inning:
Jeremiah Jenkins got the Black Bears going in the first inning as he hit his 10
th home run of the season, this one being a two-run home run to right field.
Quinn McDaniel (1B) scored on the play.

Second Inning: Jason Bottari scored on a groundout to get the Great Danes on the board.

Third Inning:
Connor Goodman brought home the third run of the day for the Black Bears as he grounded out to shortstop, scoring
Jake Rainess (1B).

Colin Plante added a second run in the frame as he hit an infield single off of the pitcher, scoring
Quinn McDaniel (2B – SB).

Fourth Inning:
Ryan Turenne increased the Black Bear lead to 5-1 as he hit his first home run of the season to right field.

Fifth Inning: Thomas Quinn was called on in relief for the Great Danes to begin the fifth inning. Matthew Mariano went 4 innings, allowing 5 runs on 9 hits, 1 walk and striking out 1.

Seventh Inning:
Luc Lavigueur was called on in relief to begin the seventh inning.
Caleb Leys turned in a dominate performance as he allowed just 1 run across 6 innings of work, allowing 2 hits, 3 walks and striking out 7.

Jake Rainess kept the offense going as he hit his eighth home run of the season to right field to lead off the frame for the Black Bears.

Jake Marquez added a run later in the frame on a sac-fly to center field, scoring

Gianni Gambardella was called on in relief to begin the eighth inning for the Black Bears. Lavigueur fired a scoreless inning, allowing 1 hit and 2 walks in the seventh inning.

Michael DiMartino was called on to begin the eighth frame for the Great Danes. Quinn lasted 3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, 1 hit batter and striking 3.
