Baseball Drops Second-Straight Against Merrimack, 11-10

North Andover, MA – The University of Maine baseball team was defeated at Merrimack on Wednesday afternoon, 11-10.
 
First Inning: Frankie Ferrentino hit a two-run home run to get Merrimack going in the first inning.
 
Second Inning: Jake Macchi doubled home a run for Merrimack to make it 3-0.
 
Third Inning: Jeremiah Jenkins got the Black Bears on the board with a three-run home run, his 15th of the season. Jake Rainess (BB) and Quinn McDaniel (E5) scored on the play.
 
Frankie Ferrentino hit his second home run of the contest to retake the lead for his squad at 4-3.
 
Fifth Inning: Jeremiah Jenkins made it a multi-home run day as he hit his second long ball of the contest and 16th of the season, this one being a two-run home run. Quinn McDaniel (HBP) scored on the play.
 
Myles Sargent made it a 4-run inning for the Black Bears as he hit his fifth home run of the season to make it 7-4 Black Bears. His two-run home run scored Jeff Mejia (1B) on the play.
 
Merrimack answered the Black Bears 4-run fifth inning with a a 5-run fifth inning of their own as Michael Golankiewicz hit a three-run home run and Alex Haba singled home a pair.
 
Seventh Inning: Jeff Mejia got the Black Bears back in the run column as he doubled to left field, scoring Jeremiah Jenkins (1B) on the play.
 
Alex Haba answered for the Warriors as he hit a solo home run.
 
Eighth Inning: Dylan McNary got the Black Bears back to within one run as he hit his 10th home run of the season, this one being a solo shot.
 
Jeremiah Jenkins tied the contest up later in the inning as he doubled to center field, scoring Quinn McDaniel (E5).
 
Christian Scanlon brought home the final run of the contest as he knocked home the winning run on a double in the bottom of the eighth inning.
 
Jack Collins (2-1) picked up the win for Merrimack in relief.
 
Justin Baeyens (2-2) took the loss for the Black Bears.
 
Maine (21-14, 11-1 AE) returns to America East action on Friday as they are set to travel to Lowell to take on the River Hawks of UMass Lowell in a doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 P.M.
