BALTIMORE -- The University of Maine softball team was defeated by the UMBC Retrievers, 1-0 and 2-1, in both ends of the doubleheader at the Diamond at UMBC.

Game One -- University of Maine: 0 UMBC: 1

UMBC scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs and a run on third base, the Retrievers singled to left. After one inning, Maine trailed 1-0.

The Black Bears were unable to find a game tying run as they fell in the first game of the weekend, 1-0.

Game Two -- University of Maine: 1 UMBC: 2

Kennedy Priest quickly scored the first run of the second game. In the top of the first inning, the catcher launched a solo shot to center. The Black Bears held a 1-0 lead after the first inning.

The Retrievers scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Maine committed a fielding error before UMBC tallied two RBI knocks. They were the final runs of the day as Maine lost the final game of the day, 2-1.
