BOSTON -- The University of Maine softball team was defeated by the Boston University Terriers, 3-0 and 9-1, in both ends of the doubleheader at the BU Softball Field.

Game One -- University of Maine: 0 Boston University: 3

The Terriers of Boston University scored the first run of the Tuesday afternoon doubleheader. A throwing error allowed a runner to score from second base.
Ava Zettlemoyer closed the door on the BU rally. After one inning, Maine trailed 1-0.

The home squad added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. They were the final runs of game one as Maine fell, 3-0.

The Terriers posted four runs in the bottom of the first inning. They scored their runs on five hits, one of which was a double. At the end of one inning, Maine trailed by four.

The Black Bears loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the third inning. Maine was able to only score one run in the inning.
Maggie Helms touched home after leading off the inning with a single. BU regained their four run lead with an RBI single in the bottom half of the third. The advantage was 5-1 at the end of three.

A double with the bases loaded and a single after the double equaled four important runs for the home squad. The lead was eight after four innings, 9-1. The Black Bears were unable to mount a comeback as game two went BU's way.
