Orono, Maine -- University of Maine guard
Anne Simon has announced that she will return to the Black Bears for her fifth season.
"Thank you Black Bear Nation for making the past four years unforgettable," Simon says. "I am so thankful for my teammates and coaches for being my family away from home. I appreciate all the support and love I have received from our fans during these four years. But we are not done yet. I'm coming back for another year."
Simon battled through injuries during the 2022-23 season, forcing her to appear in just 14 of Maine's 30 games. However, when healthy, Simon was impressive as she averaged 13.6 points and 4.1 rebounds while earning a spot on the America East All-Conference Second Team.
She captured the America East Player and Defensive Player of the Year accolades for the 2021-22 season and is a two-time America East All-Conference First Team honoree.
Simon currently ranks 11th on Maine's all-time scoring list with 1,357 points, eighth in points per game (14.0) and eighth in total steals (196).
