Men's Basketball Falls in Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle on Wednesday night, 74-62

Box Score Durham, NH – The University of Maine men's basketball team fell in the Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle at New Hampshire on Wednesday night, 74-62.
 
The Wildcats got out to an early 5-0 lead as they buried their first two shots on the night.
 
Maine got on the board three minutes into the contest as Kellen Tynes buried a mid-range jumper for the Black Bears first bucket on the night.
 
New Hampshire moved their early lead out to six points at 10-4 heading into the opening media timeout.
 
The Black Bears came out of the media timeout and got five quick points to make it a one-point contest. Gedi Juozapaitis (3-pointer) and Kristians Feierbergs (layup) scored the points.
 
The Black Bears tied the contest up at 10:28 as Kristians Feierbergs buried a three-pointer on a pick and pop play with Kellen Tynes.
 
The Wildcats retook the lead one possession later, a lead they would not give up for the rest of the opening half.
 
The Black Bears kept the score close, closing the gap back down to one-point following an 8-0 run, capped off by a Kellen Tynes jumper with 2:19 remaining in the first half.
 
The Wildcats ended the first half by scoring the final four points, making it a 35-30 game at the half.
 
Kellen Tynes led the Black Bears in scoring in the first half as he had eight points. He also had a game-high four assists in the first half.
 
Kristians Feierbergs had seven points on three of four shooting in the first half.
 
Nick Johnson led all scorers in the first half as he had 10 points for the Wildcats.
 
The Wildcats came out in the second half and pushed their lead out to nine points heading into the first media timeout of the second half.
 
The Black Bears chipped into the Wildcats lead as they went on a mini 4-0 run following the second media timeout, making it a six-point game.
 
The Wildcats took complete control of the contest following a Black Bear bucket at 8:13 as they went on a 12-0 run to push the lead to 18 points at 64-46.
 
The Black Bears had Gedi Juozapaitis hit a pair of three-pointers down the stretch to bring the score to within 10 points, but that was as close as the Black Bears would get to the Wildcats lead as New Hampshire came away with the victory, 74-62.
 
Kellen Tynes led the Black Bears in scoring on the night as he had 18 points on nine of 11 shooting from the field. He also had six assists, three rebounds and two steals.
 
Gedi Juozapaitis finished with 15 points, including three three-pointers.
 
Jaden Clayton turned in a career-best performance on the boards as he grabbed seven rebounds.
 
Maine (11-16, 5-9) will stay on the road as they travel to Binghamton to face off against the Bearcats on Saturday, Feb. 25. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 P.M.
