Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to Merrimack

Orono, ME - The University of Maine women's ice hockey falls to Merrimack 1-3 on Saturday afternoon.

First Goal (0-1 Merrimack): After a scoreless first, the Warriors scored their first goal 8:49 into the second. Alexa Pongo started with the puck and connected with Allison Reeb. Reeb from behind the net found Katie Kaufman and after passing it back and forth ending with Kaufman lifting the puck into the top left corner of the net.

Second Goal (1-1 Maine): Maine responded 17:37 into the second. Luisa Welcke passed the puck off to Ava Stevenson. Stevenson skated around the back side of the net and took a shot that ricocheted off of Ally Johnson's stick where Stevenson then found the puck again and got the goal. 

Third Goal (1-2 Merrimack): 10:31 into the third Hayley Chang scored for Merrimack to take the lead. Katie Kaufman and Alex Ferguson each picked up an assist.

Fourth Goal (1-3 Merrimack): 12:50 into the third Merrimack scored their final goal. Katie Kaufman stole the puck away from a Maine skater and passed down ice to Hannah Corneliusen. Corneliusen took the puck down the ice herself to score.

Brooklyn Oakes ends with 20 saves for Maine.

Emma Gorski finishes with 35 saves for Merrimack.
