Orono, ME – The University of Maine men's basketball team extended their win streak to four games with a victory over CCSU, 69-56.

Both sides struggled out of the gates as they were eight turnovers and just three field goals across the first four minutes of action as CCSU held an early 6-2 lead into the first media timeout.

CCSU pushed their early lead to double-digits as they had a 10-point lead at 12-2 seven minutes into the contest before Maine started getting buckets to fall as
Peter Filipovity and
Kellen Tynes hit back-to-back shots with Tynes's bucket being an and-one.

Maine took their first lead of the contest as they went on a 11-2 run to take the 21-19 lead with 6:56 remaining in the first half.

Maine held onto their lead as they took a four-point advantage into the half at 32-28.

Filipovity led all scorers with 10 points and all rebounders with five boards.
Kristians Feierbergs (7) and
Quion Burns (6) rounded out the top three scorers in the first half for the Black Bears.

CCSU scored the opening two buckets of the second half before the Black Bears answered with two buckets of their own by Filipovity and Ja'Shonté Wright-McLeish to retake the lead.

Maine continued to build momentum throughout the first 11 minutes of the second half as they pushed their lead to double-digits at 53-43 following a
Kristians Feierbergs jumper.

Maine came away with the victory on the afternoon, 69-56. Maine extended their win streak to four games.

Filipovity ended with a game-high 19 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Feierbergs scored 14 points off the bench and
Quion Burns added nine points off the bench as well.

Kellen Tynes finished with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Maine (8-4) looks to keep their hot start going with a road matchup against UCF on Monday, Dec. 18. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 P.M.
