Men's Basketball Off to Best Start Since 2004-05 as they Defeat Boston University, 74-65

Filipovity Finishes with his Third Double-Double of the Season

Box Score Boston, MA – The University of Maine men's basketball team is off to their best start since the 2004-05 season following a 74-65 victory over Boston University.
 
The Terriers jumped out to an early lead over the Black Bears as they scored the first three field goals before Maine got their offense going.
 
Maine trimmed the early deficit down to two points midway through the first half as they went into the second media timeout at 20-18.
 
Four different Black Bears scored four or more points over the opening 10 minutes.
 
Maine grabbed their first lead of the contest at 22-21 on a Peter Filipovity layup with 6:06 remaining in the first half.
 
The Black Bears increased their lead to eight points at 31-23 following a 18-3 run.
 
Maine held their lead into the break at 34-28 at halftime.
 
Kellen Tynes (9), Ja'Shonté Wright-McLeish (8) and Filipovity (8) were the three leading scorers from the first half of the contest as they combined for 25 points on 10-for-17 from the field.
 
Maine forced nine turnovers in the first half.
 
The Black Bears got out to a double-digit lead early in the second half following a Wright-McLeish three-pointer, his third of the night as that point as Maine led 41-30 three minutes into the second half.
 
Boston University went on an 9-0 run following the Black Bears pushing the lead to double-digits before Maine responded with a 7-0 run of their own.
 
The Terriers tied the contest up with 4:14 remaining in the second half.
 
Maine went on a 14-5 run to end the contest as they defeated Boston University, 74-65.
 
Filipovity ended the contest with his third double-double of the season as he ended with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Tynes ended with 21 points and two steals. Quion Burns had seven points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists.
 
The Black Bears defeated the Terriers at their home court, "The Roof" for the first time since 1999.
 
Maine (7-4) looks to continue their historic start on Dec. 6 against CCSU. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 P.M.
