Orono, ME - The University of Maine field hockey team defeated Hofstra on Sunday afternoon, 4-1.
Kate Richardson got the scoring going for the Black Bears as she scored her first goal of the season on a penalty corner as she deflected a shot by
Mallory Mackesy (4).
Silvia Vetter tied it up at 1-1 for Hofstra at 8:03 before the Black Bears went back in front at 12:38.
Brynn Dzengelewski netted her second goal of the season as she put Maine in front for good.

Mallory Mackesy (5) picked up the assists.

Bhreagh Kennedy capped off the scoring on the day as she scored her first goal of the season on a rebound.
Mallory Drayer picked up four saves in the win.
Maine (5-6, 2-2 AE) returns to Orono on Friday, Oct. 6 as they host Bryant. That game is scheduled to begin at 3 P.M.
