Chestnut Hill, MA - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team drops in battle with Boston College in Friday night matchup.
First Goal (1-0 Maine): The Black Bears got the scoring going 13:11 into the first period with a power play goal. Lilli Welcke fired a strong shot that ricocheted off the goalie's pads. Alyssa Wruble found the puck and then passed it down to Mira Seregély on the right side who was able to sneak the puck in for her seventh goal of the season.
Second Goal (1-1 Boston College): Just 23 seconds after Maine's goal, Boston College answered with one of their own. Hannah Bilka connected with Caroline Goffredo up the ice. Goffredo passed it to Abby Newhook who shot first into the goalie's pads and got her own rebound shooting again into the back of the net.
Third Goal (1-2 Boston College): Hannah Bilka scored the next goal for the Eagles in the second period. Caroline Goffredo took a shot that bounced off the goalie's pads. Abby Newhook got the puck and then passed it over to Bilka for the score.
Fourth Goal (1-3 Boston College): The Eagles scored another goal in the second period this time from Kelly Browne. Gaby Roy picked up the assist.
Fifth Goal (1-4 Boston College): Boston College's fourth goal came late in the second period during a power play. Gaby Roy connected with Kelly Browne by their own net who quickly skated down the ice. Browne then found Katie Pyne by the right side of the net who used her back hand to net the goal.
Jorden Mattison got the start in net for Maine and played the first two periods earning 13 saves. Brooklyn Oakes appeared in net for the third period and finished with 9 saves.
Grace Campbell had 31 saves in net for the Eagles.
