Track and Field Place First and Second at Bates Invitational

Lewiston, ME - The University of Maine men's and women's track and field teams earn first and second place at the Bates Invitational Meet. The women secured first place with a score of 176. The men earned second with a score of 175.5.
 

On the Women's Side:

  • The women combined for ten first place finishes in the meet.
  • Emma White earned first place overall in two different events. White earned first in the triple jump with a mark of 10.97m and first in the pentathlon with 2799 points. 
  • On the track side, the women also earned first in the 60m run, 600m run, 60 hurdles, and the distance medley relay. Jessica Krousl finished the 60m run with a time of 7.91. Tegan Morrison completed the 600m run with a time of 1:45.31. The 60 hurdles were won by Darcy Cochran with a time of 9.09. Marlee Yoder, Tegan Morrison, Kayla Raymond, Lydia Gilmore all won the distance medley relay with a tie of 13:01.86
  • The women earned four more wins on the field events. Liana Jones won the high jump with a mark of 1.61m. Yasmen Farag placed first in the pole vault with a mark of 3.50m. Stella Inman completed the shot put with a mark of 12.69m. Mackenzie Wilson grabbed first in the weight throw with a throw of 18.31m.
  • The Black Bears had more impressive performances in the shot put with Wilson getting first,  Claudia Daambose earned second (12.09m) and Paige Boudreau earned third (11.96m).
  • Ashley Martinez also competed in her first collegiate pentathlon and earned third with 2799 points.

On the Men's Side:

  • The men earned eight first place finishes overall in the meet.
  • On the track side, the men combined for five wins. 
  • In the 60m run, Cole Martin finished first with a time of 6.94. Caleb Streinz ran a time of 16:08.44 in the 5000m to place first. In the 60 hurdles, Eamon Sweeny ran a time of 8.41 for first. The 4X400 relay was won by Owen Mild, Josh Sewell, Eamon Sweeney, and Conner Michaud with a time of 3:23.96.  Alec Troxell, Hunter Burkhart, Evan Thornton-Sherman, and Fisher Macklin ran a 10:36.41 in the distance medley relay to earn first.
  • On the track side, the men earned three first place finishes.
  • Evan Russo completed the pole vault with a mark of 4.15m to earn first. The Black Bears earned first in the triple jump by Kamundala Crispin with a mark of 12.99m.
  • The Black Bears had more impressive finishes in the long jump. Ben Cotton earned second (6.45m) and Andrew Abelon placed third (6.15m).
  • Zachary Beaton placed fourth in the heptathlon with 3686 points.
