ORONO, ME – The University of Maine baseball team took game one of the series over UAlbany Friday evening, 4-2.

Second Inning: Carson Dunkel got his squad on the board first as he hit a sac-fly to center field, scoring Josh Loeffler.

Fifth Inning:
Connor Goodman got the Black Bears on the board as he hit an RBRI single to right field, bringing home
Jordan Schulefand.
Quinn McDaniel grabbed the lead for the Black Bears as he hit a 2-run home run to left field, plating Goodman and making it a 3-1 Black Bear lead. Maine would tack on another run as
Colby Emmertz hit into a fielder's choice, resulting in
Joe Bramanti scoring on the play.

Ray Weber's outing came to an end during the 5
th inning as he pitched 4 and 2/3 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 6 hits, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.

Trevor LaBonte's day came to end after 7 innings of work as he allowed 1 earned run on 4 hits, 4 walks and striking out 4.

Eighth Inning: Brad Malm got one back for the Great Danes in the 8
th frame as he hit an RBI single to third base, scoring Johnny Marti.

Trevor LaBonte (5-3) picked up the win for the Black Bears.

Matthew Pushard picked up his ninth save of the season for the Black Bears as he went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing no runs on no hits, 2 walks and striking out 1.

Ray Weber (4-7) took the loss for the Great Danes.

Maine, who moves to 20-5 in America East play, stays at home to take on UAlbany in game 2 of the weekend series on Saturday, May 14. First pitch is scheduled for 1 P.M. and Senior Day festivities beginning at 12:30 P.M.
