ALBANY, NY – The University of Maine baseball team took game two of the weekend series against UAlbany, 8-6 Sunday afternoon in 7 innings.

Second Inning: The Black Bears broke through for a pair of runs to get the scoring started on the day as
Jake Marquez scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-0 Maine.
Jordan Schulefand then beat out an error by the UAlbany defense to allow
Connor Goodman to score.

Quinn McDaniel then broke the inning wide open as he hit a 3-run triple to right field, bringing home
Jeremiah Jenkins,
Jordan Schulefand and
Jake Marquez.

Third Inning: The Black Bears would plate another pair of runs as two consecutive batters,
Mike Pratte and
Jordan Schulefand, were each hit with the bases loaded as they both got an RBI.

Fourth Inning: Chris Fisher got the Great Danes on the board as he hit an RBI single to left field, driving in Will Binder.
Â
Cregg Scherrer's day came to an end in the fifth inning, as he pitched 4 and 1/3 innings, allowing 7 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits, 2 walks and he struck out 6.

Fifth Inning: The Black Bears made it 8-1 as
Jake Marquez hit an RBI double down the left field line, bringing home
Connor Goodman on the play.

Sixth Inning: John Daly got the Great Danes their second run of the contest in the bottom of the sixth as he hit an RBI single to left field, bringing home Michael Whalen.

Brett Erwin's day came to an end after 6 innings of work as he allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits, 2 walks and striking out 6.

Seventh Inning: Will Feil got the Great Danes going in the final frame as he singled to center field, bringing home Johnny Marti. John Daly followed suite and also hit an RBI single, this one to left field, bringing home Michael Whalen. Will Binder than made it 3-straight, 2-out hits as he singled to center field, bringing home Will Feil. Chris Fisher made it 4-in-a-row as he singled to right field, bringing home John Daly.

Brett Erwin (2-3) earned the win for the Black Bears.

Cregg Scherrer (2-2) took the loss for the Great Danes.

These two squads will be squaring off again at 2:50 P.M. on Sunday, April 17 for the second game of the doubleheader and third of the series.
