ALBANY, NY – The University of Maine baseball team swept the UAlbany Great Danes, 3-0 with a 7-6 victory Sunday afternoon.

Second Inning: The Black Bears grabbed the 1-0 lead in the top of the frame as
Scout Knotts scored on a wild pitch after leading off the inning with a double to left field.

Third Inning: Brad Malm got the Great Danes on the board as he hit a solo home run to left field, tying the game at 1-1.

Will Feil got the Great Danes on top as he hit an RBI groundout to second base, scoring Johnny Marti. Will Binder followed up with a first-pitch double to right field, scoring Michael Whalen. Both runs were unearned.

Caleb Leys day came to an end after 3 innings of work as he allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, 4 walks and striking out 3.

Fifth Inning: Maine got one in the top of the frame as
Quinn McDaniel beat out an infield single to left side, bringing home
Jordan Schulefand.

Sixth Inning:
Scout Knotts tied the game up at 3-3 as he hit a home run to left field, his second of the weekend.

Seventh Inning: Anthony Germinerio's day came to an end in the seventh inning as he pitched 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits, 1 walk and striking out 8.

Joe Bramanti made it 3-straight innings for the Black Bears scoring, this time giving them the lead as he hit a 2-run double to right field, bringing home
Jordan Schulefand and
Jeremiah Jenkins.

Eighth Inning:
Quinn McDaniel hit a ball to shortstop that was mishandled, resulting in
Mike Pratte and
Jordan Schulefand scoring on the play, moving the score to 7-3 Black Bears.

Ninth Inning: Michael Whalen got one back in the final frame as he hit an RBI single to center field, scoring Johnny Marti. Will Binder made it a 1-run game later in the frame as he double to right field, bringing home Ryan Ferremi and Michael Whalen.

Noah Lewis (2-2) picked up the win in relief for the Black Bears, throwing 5 innings of 1-hit ball, allowing no runs, 3 walks and striking out 5.

Anthony Germinerio (3-3) took the loss for the Great Danes.

The Black Bears return home for a non-conference matchup against Colby on Tuesday, April 19 and then welcome the UMass Lowell Riverhawks for a weekend series on April 22-24.
