Storrs, Conn. -- The University of Maine men's track & field team tallied six top 10 finishes while placing 15th overall with eight points at the UConn Northeast Challenge.
Ben Cotton turned in Maine's top finish of the day by placing sixth in the long jump at 7.04m, climbing to 10th on Maine's all-time top-10 list in the event. Cotton added a 24th place finish in the 100m with a time of 11.01.
Lewis Roebuck (7th) and
Nathan Holst-Grubbe (8th) added top-10 finishes in the hammer with marks of 56.54m and 54.55m, respectively. Roebuck's mark in the event moved him into fourth on Maine's all-time top-10 list in the event while Holst-Grubbe's mark moved him into seventh on the top-10 list.
Jonathan Prell added a 19th place showing in the event at 46.81m.
William Green finished eighth in the pole vault after clearing 4.37m.
Zachary Beaton completed the decathlon with an eighth place finale in the event. Beaton placed fourth in the 1500m (4:50.23); fifth in the 110 hurdle (15.59); 10th in the pole vault (3.55m); and 12th in both the discus (27.26m) and the javelin (38.72m) to round out the two day event.
Sebastian Osborne turned in a top-10 showing in the shot put after placing 10th in the event at 15.67m, good for 10th all-time.
Ryker Brown followed Osborne in the event with a 16th place mark of 14.84m while
Jonathan Prell placed 19th at 14.45m.
Gavin McGarrity came in 22nd in the shot put at 14.44m while
Cameron Hughes added a 27th place mark of 13.42m.
In the track events,
Kyle Jacques placed 20th in the both the 100m (10.96) and 200m (22.08). His time in the 200m was good for ninth on Maine's top-10 list.
