ORONO, ME – The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell to the Catamounts of Vermont Saturday afternoon, 3-1.

FIRST GOAL (1-0 Vermont): The Catamounts got out to an early lead as they turned good defense into a breakaway chance for Alyssa Holmes, who scored her 2
nd of the season. Her score came off assists by Bella Parento (5) and Lili Humphrey (9).

SECOND GOAL (2-0 Vermont): Following a tie up at center ice in which a turnover by the Black Bear occurred, Hailey Burns came away with the puck and scored an unassisted goal for her 4
th of the season.

THIRD GOAL (2-1 Maine):
Morgan Trimper got the Black Bears in the scoring column late in the third period as she deflected a rocket of a shot off of the stick of
Olivia King (3). Her fourth score of the season was also assisted on by
Taylor Leech (7).

FOURTH GOAL (3-1 Vermont): The Catamount put an empty-netter in to ice away the game with 2:23 left in the contest. Corinne McCool is the one who got open in center ice and fired into the empty-net, scoring her 5
th of the season. It was assisted by Alyssa Holmes (17) and Ellice Murphy (8).

Jorden Mattison finished with 12 saves in the losing effort.

Jessie McPherson stopped 21 of 22 shots in her squads win.

Maine (12-15-1, 10-10-1) heads to Northeastern for their next set of games on Friday, Feb. 11 and Saturday, Feb. 12.
