ORONO, ME - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team will be starting off the Hockey East Quarterfinals with a matchup at the Boston College Eagles on Friday, Feb. 25 at 1:00 P.M.
For the Black Bears, they are coming off of a weekend sweep of the UNH Wildcats, which resulted in Maine earned the #5 seed in the Hockey East Playoffs. Maine has been led offensively during the regular season by
Ida Kuoppala (9 G, 14 A),
Ali Beltz (5 G, 12 A) and
Celine Tedenby (7 G, 8 A), who most recently earned Hockey East Co-Player of the Week honors.
For the Eagles, they have been led offensively this season by Kelly Browne (10 G, 24 A), Hannah Bilka (16 G, 17 A) and Abby Newhook (16 G, 13 A).
During the regular season, Boston College swept the Black Bears, going 3-0 against them, with both games played at Alfond resulting in an overtime defeat for UMaine.
The Hockey East playoffs will see the overtime rules be reverted to the previous season's rules, where it will be 5-on-5, 20-minute extra periods, until a team scores, instead of 3-on-3.
