PREVIEW: Men's Basketball Hosts UMass Lowell in Conference Action

ORONO, ME - The University of Maine men's basketball team hosts the UMass Lowell Riverhawks on Wednesday, Feb. 2 for our Cancer Awareness game, sponsored by the Black Bear Inn.

Monday's game will be broadcast live on the ESPN+. The game can also be heard worldwide on the Black Bears Sports Network and at goblackbears.com.

A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:

The Black Bears will be led into thair matchup against the Riverhawks riding hot-streaks by Maks Klansjcek and Vukasin Masic.

Klansjcek has scored double-figures in 5 of 8 conference games, with two games going for over 20 points. He dropped a career-high versus UNH on Jan. 24 and most recently scored 23 versus Hartford on Jan. 31.

Masic, the team leader in scoring per game, has scored double-figures in 4-straight contests, including a            career-high versus UNH on Jan. 24.

A LOOK AT UMASS LOWELL:

The Riverhawks are coming off of a overtime loss to UAlbany back on Jan. 26, a 64-62 defeat.

Allin Blunt dropped 21 points in the losing effort, while Quinton Mincey (9pts, 10 reb) and John Hall (7 pts, 13 reb) chipped in as well.

On the season, Kalil Thomas currently paces all UMass Lowell scorers, averaging 10.3 points per contest. Allin Blunt is right on his tail for the team lead, scoring at 10.2 per contest. Max Brooks currently leads his squad with 5.9 rebounds per game.

HISTORY AGAINST UMASS LOWELL:

This matchup will be the 19th matchup between these two teams, and second of the 2021-22 season. The first matchup went the way of the Riverhawks back on Jan. 19, 2022, when UMass Lowell won 71-62. The Black Bears were led offensively by a career-high performance from Kristians Feierbergs (22 pts, 11 reb) and solid performances by Maks Klanjscek (13 pts) and Ja'Shonté Wright-Mcleish (8 pts). The Riverhawks were led with a huge night from Allin Blunt (23 pts) and double-digit scoring from Kalil Thomas (13 pts) and Justin Faison (11 pts).
