Orono, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team will be celebrating 25 years of the program's history during its home game on Jan. 21 against Boston College at 3:00 p.m.
 
Rising from club to Division I in the fall of 1998, the Black Bears have always competed at the highest levels of women's ice hockey. The program, first affiliated with ECAC Hockey until 2001-02, is one of the original programs of the Women's Hockey East Association which formed in 2002.
 
The University of Maine women's ice hockey team will be honoring team alumni in attendance during the game on Jan. 21. In honor of 25 years of the program's history, UMaine Athletics will also will be highlighting the ten top moments of Maine women's ice hockey over the past 25 years.
