Track & Field hires assistant coach, Pablo Espitia

Orono, Maine – University of Maine head track & field coach Adam Ward has announced the hiring of assistant coach, Pablo Espitia, effective Jan. 1.

"We are excited about adding Coach Espitia to our track and field staff," says Ward. "He has a lot of experience as both an athlete and a coach, which will benefit our student athletes tremendously. He was a very accomplished multis athlete during his time at Florida International University. His ability to work with and understand a wide range of events is key in helping our program grow."

Espitia joins the Black Bears after two separate stints on staff at FIU where he served as an assistant coach from August 2017 through June 2018 and again from the 2020 season until joining Maine.

While at FIU, Espitia planned and executed the daily practices for the sprint and hurdle events while assisting with jumps, multis, and throws.

Espitia completed his USATF Level 1 School at Johns Hopkins in July of 2017 before earning his USTFCCCA sprints, hurdles & relay event specialist certification in August of 2022.

Espitia graduated from FIU in August of 2017. While at FIU, he was an accomplished track and field athlete where he competed in the decathlon.
