ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine track and field program will open up 2026 this weekend as they will travel to Bates College to compete in the Bates Invitational & Multis at the Merrill Gymnassium. Friday's events will kick off at 5 PM while Saturday's events will kick off at 10 AM.
The weekend will feature athletes competing in the Heptathlon which consists of the 60m, Long Jump, Shot Put and High Jump on day one and the 60m Hurdles, Pole Vault and 1000m on day two.

Athletes to watch:
Martha Baharova - Baharova is competing in her first collegiate heptathlon. Baharova took home a fourth place finish in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.02m (16' 5.75") at the UMaine Home Meet back on December 12.
Athena Cusson - Cusson is competing in her first indoor heptathlon. Cusson has competed in five outdoor heptathlons in her collegiate career with her most recent heptathlon coming back at the America East Outdoor Championships in the previous outdoor season. In her career Cusson averages 3,990 points per heptathlon.
Ben Therriault - Therriault is competing in his third indoor heptathlon. Therriault's last heptathlon came at the 2025 Indoor Track and Field America East Championships where he finished in 4th place with a score of 4,790.
Luke Patterson - Patterson is competing in his third indoor heptathlon. Patterson's last heptathlon came at the 2024 Indoor Track and Field America East Championshups where he finished in 7th place with a score of 4,402. Patterson finished in 1st place in the 1000m portion of the event with a time of 2:45.03.
