Men's Basketball Looks to Bounce Back from Tough Loss on Sunday at Fordham on Wednesday Night

HISTORY:

This will be the fifth meeting all-time between these two programs, with the all-time record being tied up at 2-2. This is the first matchup since 2018 between Maine and Fordham.

ABOUT THE BLACK BEARS:

The Black Bears are coming off of tough loss at Brown University back on Sunday, Nov. 27.

Maine trailed in that contest by 17 with 10:01 left in the contest, before rallying to make it a

five-point game as the Black Bears held their opponent scoreless for over seven-straight minutes as Maine went on a 12-0 run to cut the deficit to five. The Black Bears comeback came up short, but there was never any quit in the Black Bears effort in the loss.

Kellen Tynes continued his hot-streak for the Black Bears as he scored for the second-straight game a new career-high in points, this time being 24 points. He is coming off of a week in which he averaged 23.5 points per game for the Black Bears on the 1-1 week.

Tynes has been one of the best defenders in the country in the early going, as he currently ranks third in the country in steals per game at 3.50. His 21 steals is good for the seventh most steals in the country. Tynes's FG% of 64.7% is good for 23rd in the country as well.

Gedi Juozapaitis has continued his early season sharp-shooting as his 3-point percentage sits north of 50% at 52.9% on the young season. His 52.9% clip is good for 17th in the country coming into the Black Bears matchup against Fordham. He is averaging three-made three-pointers a game in the early part of the season.

ABOUT FORDHAM:

The Rams are off to a 6-1 start to begin the 2022-23 season, including a win their last time out against Harvard University, 68-60.

Darius Quisenberry has been getting it done on the offensive end of the floor for his squad in the early part of the season as he leads the Rams in scoring at an impressive 16.9 points per game.

Khalid Moore (14.1) and Kyle Rose (11.1) round out the top-three scorers for Fordham.

Abdou Tsimbila paces the Rams in rebounds per game as he is grabbing 8.1 boards per game.
