PREVIEW: Men's Basketball Plays Host to Hartford

ORONO, ME - The University of Maine men's basketball team hosts the Hartford Hawks in Conference action Monday, Jan. 31 at the Cross Insurance Center.

Monday's game will be broadcast live on the ESPN 3. The game can also be heard worldwide on the Black Bears Sports Network and at goblackbears.com.

A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:

Maine is coming off of a loss at top-seeded Vermont on Saturday, 81-68.

Vukasin Masic is coming in as a player to watch out for, having dropped 18 PPG over his past 3 games, also dishing out 2 assists and grabbing 2.3 rebounds. He is also shooting 49.6 % from the field and 50% from 3-point range during his current hot-streak.

Ja'Shonté Wright-McLeish tied his career high on Saturday with 15 points, shooting a perfect 5-5 from the field, all of them being 3-pointers.

A LOOK AT HARTFORD:

Hartford comes in coming off of a 72-60 win over Binghamton.

The Hawks were led by a monstrous performance by Moses Flowers, who dropped 21 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Hunter Marks also had a great two-way game, dropping 15 points and blocking 6 shots.

Austin Williams currently leads the hawks in scoring, averaging 15.6 per game. Flowers (13.4 PPG) and Marks (12.4 PPG) round out the top 3 for their squad.

HISTORY AGAINST HARTFORD:

This matchup marks the 75th time these two squads face one-another, with Hartford holding a 44-30 record over the Black Bears. The last matchup, coming on Dec. 20, 2020, resulted in a Hawks win, 65-50. Lechaun DuHart (9 pts) and Fofo Adetogun (9 pts) were among the key players for the Black Bears. D.J. Mitchell (21 pts) and Stafl Miroslav (17 pts) were the difference makers for the Hawks in their last win over the Black Bears.
