Women's Ice Hockey Being Represented by Five Olympians in Beijing

ORONO, ME -- The University of Maine women's ice hockey team will be represented by five Olympians, two current Black Bears and three former Black Bears, at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

The list of Black Bears that are going to be competing for their respective countries is: Amalie Andersen, Rahel Enzler, Tereza Vanisova, Vendula Pribylova and Michelle Weis.

Andersen, a current Black Bear who is in her Junior year at UMaine, is a native of Herning, Denmark. She will be representing team Denmark in their first ever Olympics for women's ice hockey. At UMaine, she has appeared in 49 games, compiling 2 goals and 6 assists.

Enzler, another current Black Bear, is in her Sophomore season at UMaine. She is a native of Zug, Switzerland and will be representing team Switzerland. At UMaine, she has appeared in 37 games, scoring 3 goals and adding 9 assists.

Vanisova, a 2020 graduate of UMaine, spent 4 seasons as a Black Bear from 2016-20, in which she appeared in 130 games, racked up a program record 129 points, 63 of them being goals and 66 assists. A native of Strakonice, Czech Republic, will be representing the Czech Republic at the Olypmics.

Pribylova, a 2020 graduate of UMaine, spent 4 seasons as a Black Bear from 2016-20. She appeared in 129 games, in which she scored 21 goals and dished out 39 assists. A native of Olomouc, Czech Republic, will be joining Vanisova as a representative for the Czech Republic at the Olympics.

Weis, who attended the University of Maine from 2017-20, spent 3 seasons as a Black Bear in which she appeared in 93 games. In those games, she scored 17 goals and added in 20 assists. A native of Charlottenlund, Denmark, will be joining Andersen as a representative of team Denmark at the Olympics.

For the women's ice hockey events, they will be getting kicked off on Thursday, Feb. 3 as the Czech Republic take on China. Switzerland will begin their action on Friday, Feb. 4 as they face off against the Russian Olympic Committee. Denmark will also begin action on Friday, Feb. 4 as they face China.
