Olivier sets school-record in 600m at Bates College

LEWISTON, Maine - The University of Maine men's track and field team competed in a non-scoring meet at Bates College on Friday and Saturday afternoon. Multiple athletes placed within the top five of virtually every event. James Olivier set a new school-record with a winning time of 1:22.45 in the 600m while three others set top-10 all-time Maine marks.

Ben Cotton finished first place with a time of 7.01 in the 60 meter final, third place in the 200 meter final with a mark of 23.03, and first in the long jump final. Cotton's time in the 60m was good to move him into seventh on Maine's all-time top-10 list in the event.

Kyle Jacques, close behind Cotton in the 60 meter, finished in second place with a time of 7.04. He also snagged a third place finish in the long jump.

Continuing his dominance, James Olivier, 1:22.45, grabbed a first place finish in the 600 meter finals. Olivier's time set a new Maine school record in the event.

Griffin Lawson's time in 60 meter hurdles was enough for another Maine first place finish. Not to be out done, William Green cleared 14' 1.25" in the pole vault and won the competition.

The 5000 meter finals were dominated by the Black Bears. Alec Troxell completed the race in first place, Samuel Mills snagged second place, and Luke Marsanskis finished in fourth place. Troxell's time of 14:47.76 in the event was good for nine on Maine's all-time top-10 list.

The team of Michael O'Clair, Caden Riley, Conner Michaud, and Dawson Desrosiers combined to finish the 4x400 meter relay in first.

Elijah White finished fourth in the long jump finals before finishing in first place in the triple jump finals.

In the men's shot put final, Sebastian Osborne led the way with 16.15m. Osborne's throw, a personal record, moved him into sixth on Maine's all-time top-10 list in the event. In second place, Jonathan Prell cleared 49' 2.25", and Cameron Hughes grabbed a fourth place finish with a distance of 48' 2.5".

Zachary Beaton's score of 4541 in the heptathlon earned him a first place title with Jeremy Bissell in third.
