ORONO, ME -- The University of Maine men's basketball team returns home to face off against the Retrievers of UMBC on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 12:00 P.M.

A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
The Black Bears will be looking for a bounce back performance following a tough loss at UMass Lowell, 71-62.
Maine comes into their matchup against UMBC as the best squad in the conference in forcing steals, Â Â Â Â registering 8.1 per contest.Â
Sam Ihekwoaba (4-time AE Rookie of the Week, 3-in-a-row) and Kristians Feierbergs (22-11 last game) come in as key players for the Black Bears so far in conference play.

UMBC comes to Maine following a loss at UAlbany on Wednesday, Jan 19, 66-54.
UMBC was led by Matt Cerruti (20pts, 2 reb, 3 a) and Jamel Horton (15pts, 6 reb, 6 a) in the losing effort.Â
Keondre Kennedy comes in to the matchup as the leading scorer for the Retrievers, scoring 13.2 per game. Rogers Darnell (10.7 ppg) ranks second on the squad and L.J. Owens (9.9 ppg) round out the top 3.
HISTORY AGAINST UMBC
These two squads are facing off for the 34th time on Saturday, with UMBC holding an all-time series lead at 21-12. The last time these two faced off came back on Feb. 29, 2020, a game in which the Black Bears firmly came away with the victory, 74-48. Keondre Kennedy led the UMBC squad in that contest, scoring 14 of his squads points. Steph Ingo produced a double-double for the Black Bears in that contest, scoring 12 and grabbing 12 rebounds.
