Walton and Hartley lead Maine to 5-1 victory at home

Four different Black Bears score, Hartley collects three assists

ORONO - Four different Black Bears tallied goals and Madisyn Hartley notched three assists in a 5-1 Maine victory over Merrimack College on Friday afternoon.

Chloe Walton and Hana Davis got Maine going in the first quarter with a goal each before Merrimack picked one up in the final moments off a penalty corner. The 2-1 score held deep into the third frame before the Black Bears turned on the jets, scoring three goals in the final twenty minutes of game time to secure the 5-1 victory.

Walton scored twice on the afternoon, her second career multi-goal game. Tereza Holubcova and Brooke Sulinski also played their way onto the score sheet, Sulinski notching her team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Mia Borley was characteristically solid in net, making three saves on four shots to earn the win.

Madisyn Hartley assisted on three goals today, becoming the first Black Bear since Casey Crowley in 2018 to reach the number. Chloe Walton's five points (two goals and an assist) gives her the highest single-game point total since Libby Reidl had seven in a game, also in the 2018 season.

The Black Bears rise to 2-5 on the season so far, as they get ready for one more non-conference battle before America East play begins. They'll take on Northeastern in Orono at 1:00 on Sunday on AmericaEast.tv.
